As part of the Governments support package to help the struggling Hospitality Industry is the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, which pretty does what it says on the tin.
If you’re a restaurant, cafe, bar etc. that serves food with a dedicated seating area, you can offer a discount of 50% on your usual prices to encourage more customers. The government will then reimburse you for the difference, up to a maximum of £10 per person (excludes alcoholic drinks, tips and service charge). There is no limit customers can use the offer. It is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday’s between 3rd to 31st August 2020. It also includes children, so there is no excuse to leave your feral kids at home I’m afraid.
Any business in the Hospitality Industry that has a designated seated area, sells food and was registered as a food business with your local authority on 7th July will be eligible to join the scheme from 13th July. You cannot join the scheme if you are take-away only, mobile food vans, or catering services.
To register, click here.
Once registered, you’ll be issued with a registration reference number – which you’ll need to make a claim on the discount value you’ve given. The claim is set to be made available from 7th August.
You’ll also be added to HMRC’s list of participating establishments. You can also download and use HMRC’s promotion materials to help spread the word in your local community. These are here.
